WHO IS JUNCTION CITY  LOCAL AID?
Junction City Local Aid was begun as an informal local "community chest" in 1945 by area churches and individuals. Today Local Aid has a professional office space, which includes a distribution and storage area and one paid employee. Local Aid is mostly run by volunteers and receives its food from food drives, Food For Lane County, local farmers, churches, and private individuals.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?

  • VOLUNTEERS - Working the pantry and helping with special events and holidays.
  • FOOD: Everything (excluding home-canned or jarred products, cans without labels, food that has been opened.)
  • MONETARY DONATIONS: Tax-Deductible, of course.( 501(c)(3) status).

Where Does the Food Come From?
We're constantly asked this question. The answer is.."everywhere!"
In an average month we receive:
  • 14,000 lbs-.Food For Lane County:  They require that we pick up our own food. Country Coach has taken on this responsibility. Like clockwork their enclosed truck shows up at FFLC every Monday morning and picks up approximately 4,000 pounds of food and delivers it to our doorstep.
  • 850 pounds - Harrisburg Gleaners:   Two volunteers go to Harrisubrg once or twice a week to pick up food that the Gleaners have gathered from local moarkets and farmers.
  • 200 lbs - Junction City American Legion:  In the form of Orowheat bread.
  • 250 lbs. - Churches:  Several of the local churches and the senior center have put together donation boxes for the convenience of their members.
  • 200 lbs. - The Muffin Mill: : This business has been quite generous. We have two volunteers from Eugene who go pick up food from them and deliver it to us each month.
  • 250 lbs - Ongoing Food Drives: . Held locally several times a year.
  • 200 lb. - Citizens Like You:We always need food, and distribute over16,000 lbs.every month! In the fall of  2001 we distributed an average of 153 boxes each month. Today the average is about 200! We truly appreciate anything you can donate. See our hours at the top of this page for times you can bring items by.
